Well to me, she'll always be Gina, so I will continue with Gina for the rest of this post. I picked Gina up from Schipol, Amsterdam's airport, on Saturday morning and gave her absolutely no time to rest because it was a beautiful day and we toured around Delft. I put the pictures up from that day on my last post. On Sunday, we went to church and then Amsterdam (in that order...tehe). I think we got a bit stuck in the touristy part of Amsterdam, so it wasn't be best impression of the city. Hopefully I can see other parts of the city next time when Tom & co come for UT's spring break. More on that later...
Shopping street in Amsterdam
Big plaza, obviously not the formal name
Madame Tussaud
Here comes the horse and carriage!
Oh dear. Canal boat insurance?
Who's the show off?
Classy Amsterdam
Rembrandt's statue.
Apparently the couple who took our picture didn't care
too much about getting Rembrandt himself in the picture!
Grandma, don't look.
Supersize me! The classic Dutch fries with mayo.
Another lit-up plaza
Not too many pictures from that day trip, the Delft pictures were much better. Gina & I decided we like Delft a lot more. There's something about the quiet, quaint atmosphere that we both like much more than the craziness of Amsterdam, not to mention there's no Red Light District in Delft.
We had one more day in Delft with the mission to find Gina a good pair of walking shoes that are cute AND comfortable. If you're a woman, you know these shoes do not exist, but we tried anyway. Before getting shoes we had to get our shopping motivation going, because everyone knows that the Lewis girls MUST have good attitudes, a full stomach, and sufficient caffeine to survive a clothes shopping trip.
The best waffles in Delft, that'll work!
Close up of the masterpiece.
Now, to shop...
That shoe's too big, Gina!
Ah, those are the shoes Gina bought!
Vermeer Museum. It's like an art car, but an art bike!
How do you get to THAT door?
Or that one?
Flood insurance needed
Alright, I'll have to post about Vienna (aka wienerschnitzels and apfelstrudels) later. I'm off to have an exchange student dinner, go to water polo practice (10pm on a Friday, ugh!), and then exchange party. More to come...xx
